Before the marriage... 3 of His Majesty's schoolmates opened their mouths and said, "We cannot agree with their marriage from the bottom of our hearts”

 


Mako, 29, the eldest daughter of the Akishino family, and Kei Komuro, whose family and himself have been the subject of numerous scandals, are scheduled to marry and hold a press conference on October 26. Do you think that "many people are satisfied and happy" with your marriage? FLASH interviewed three of His Majesty the Emperor Emeritus' schoolmates who have felt the special presence of the Imperial Family close to them for decades, and they all had mixed feelings about the marriage.

 

"To put it bluntly, from the very beginning, I thought it would be better for Mr. Komuro to have no connection with the Imperial Family.” said Mototsugu Akashi. Mr. Akashi had been a close friend of His Majesty even after graduating from Gakushuin University, and was informed in advance of His Majesty's announcement of his "feelings" regarding abdication before his death.

 

He said: "I believe that the Imperial Family, which has been in existence for 2,600 years, has been watching the people from a high place, apart from politics and personal issues. However, this marriage is the result of the fulfillment of a personal desire to be united with the person she loves. This is the same way of thinking as that of ordinary families, and I regret it very much.”

 

According to Mr. Akashi, this marriage was also influenced by her grandfather and grandmother.

 

"They thought that if they could have a family and live in the same way as the people, they would be able to create an Imperial Family that could rejoice and grieve together with the people, and I think they put this into practice. Thanks to his efforts, he has been able to build a wonderful Imperial Family, but I think that this marriage is the result of his excessive efforts. I don't know what His Majesty the Emperor's inner thoughts are, but I'm sure he is worried about it. Even so, I think he has no choice but to let nature take its course.

 

Mr. Takuji Suzuki, another schoolmate, believes that the twists and turns in the marriage were caused by the Akishino family's dislike of Gakushuin.

 

Takuji Suzuki believes that the family's dislike of Gakushuin was a major factor in the twists and turns of the marriage. "The Akishino family seems to have a strong resistance to the so-called Ancien Régime, which is centered on Gakushuin. Princess Mako is a student at ICU, and Princess Eugene is a student at Ochanomizu University Junior High School. However, Gakushuin has a large percentage of people who are sympathetic to the Imperial Family, and it is highly likely that they will be able to meet people with the same values and the same level of life. However, now that their marriage has been decided, Mako would like to open up a new world in New York.

 

"The ideal marriage would be one that 120 million people could say, 'Hooray!” But that's not the case. I really feel sorry for Princess Mako. Mako Komuro and Kei Attend Funeral of Mako's grandfather with Akishino Family

    Tatsuhiko Kawashima, professor emeritus at Gakushuin University, father of Noriko Akishino and grandfather of Mako Komuro, died of mesothelioma on April 4 at the age of 81.
