Princess Aiko to Hold Coming-of-Age Event on December 5
Her Imperial Highness Princess Aiko, the
eldest daughter of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, who will celebrate
her 20th birthday on December 1, has decided to hold a coming-of-age event on
December 5.
On December 1, Princess Aiko will celebrate
her 20th birthday and become an adult member of the Imperial Family.
According to a source, since this is a
weekday and there are university classes, the Imperial Household Agency has
decided to hold Aiko's coming-of-age ceremony on Sunday, December 5, when there
will be no interruption to her studies.
In the morning of the day, Aiko will visit
the three halls of the Imperial Palace, which are dedicated to the ancestors of
the Imperial Family, and will receive the Grand Cordon of the Order of the
Precious Crown from His Majesty the Emperor at the palace.
In the afternoon at the palace, she will
greet Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress in a dress wearing the medal and other
decorations, and then greet the Emperor Emeritus and his wife.
On the other hand, the birthday celebration
on December 1 and the dinner on the day of the coming-of-age event will be
canceled due to the ongoing corona disaster.
In addition, the schedule for Aiko's first
press conference on the occasion of her coming of age is still being adjusted
including the possibility of the new year.
Her attendance at the New Year's Celebration Ceremony on New Year's Day is expected to be her first official duty as an adult member of the Imperial Family.
