Grandfather Expressed Regret before His Death over Mako's Unusual Marriage
Before his death, Professor Emeritus
Tatsuhiko Kawashima of Gakushuin University, the grandfather of Mako Komuro who
passed away on the 4th of this month, expressed his mixed feelings about Mako's
marriage. The weekly magazine "Josei Jishin" reported on the 9th.
According to the report, the magazine's
reporter interviewed Kawashima in late January 2018. It was about a month
before that, when the debt problems between Kei Komuro's mother and her former
fiancé were first reported, followed by a series of scandals, including the
suicides of relatives of the Komuro family, including Kei's own father.
At the time, the magazine received
information that Mr. Kawashima had said, "I guess we'll have to provide
the money for Mako to find a new house. It is believed that Mr. Kawashima
already knew that he could not rely on the Komuro family financially.
When the reporter asked him, "What do
you think about the fact that the financial troubles of the Komuro family have
had a negative impact on the marriage?", he closed his eyes and pondered
for a while.
“I think grandchildren are adorable for
grandparents in any family.”
“...... I have my own feelings about my
grandchildren's marriage. After listening to many people's stories about her
marriage to Komuro, from my point of view, I feel sad and say, 'Oh, it's a
pity’. (The fact that I (her grandfather) feel sad
makes me think that there's not the slightest possibility (that people are not
supporting her), given the current trends.”
The pain of not being able to support the
marriage of his beloved grandchild was palpable. He was probably very worried
about Mako, who was going ahead with the marriage, which was opposed by many
people, and afterwards he kept repeating the words, "My grandchildren are
really cute.”
I wonder how sad Mako is right now, having lost her grandfather who loved and cared for her so much.
