Regarding Komuro's Mother's Alleged Illegal Receipt of the Survivor's Pension
Komuro's Mother's Alleged Illegal Receipt of Survivor’s Pension First Aired on Terrestrial TV
The alleged fraudulent receipt of the
survivor's pension by Komuro's mother, Kayo, is one of the major scandals that
have raised many questions from the Japanese people about the marriage of Mako
Akishino and Kei Komuro, along with the 4 million yen debt issue, which is the
reason for their opposition. It is said to show that Kayo Komuro is greedy and
not law-abiding. According to one theory, the total amount of the survivor's
pension that was illegally received by Kayo Komuro is said to be as much as 20
million yen (some $182K).
After being reported in a weekly magazine,
this issue has been ignored by newspapers and terrestrial TV for a long time,
but was picked up on terrestrial TV for the first time on the afternoon of the
13th in the Nippon Television talk show "SOKODERAITE COMMITTEE.”
What is Allegation of Illegal Receipt of Survivor's
Pension?
Kei Komuro's mother, Kayo, after the death of Kei's father, tried to continue receiving her late husband's survivor's pension even after she became engaged to Mr. X, a man who is currently in trouble with Komuros over a 4 million yen debt.
For an overview of debt issues, see this article.
The line message that Kayo sent to Mr. X shows that she was aware of this and planned to do so.
In April of this year, Shukan Bunshun reported on this line message with images.

The messages were as follows:
We will provide for each other with each
other's gross income plus my husband's survivor's pension. All other deposits and property will be
considered mutual. Please make me the beneficiary of Puppy's
life insurance.
First of all, I will practice the above =
de facto marriage. Then, four years later, after Puppy, you get your pension, we'll get married again. |
If I were to get married now, there would
be no problem, but it would be better to wait until four years after Puppy, you get your pension, wouldn't it? I agree with you. So we don't want anyone to know about our
de facto marriage as much as possible because if someone were to file a
complaint with the authorities, it would be a disaster. |
As described above, Kayo admits that she is
in a "de facto marriage" but makes a very deliberate proposal to
"hide it so that no one knows about it" in order to receive the
survivor's pension.
The impact of this report with the image
was so strong that the Director General of the Imperial Household Agency, Mr.
Nishimura, who is from the National Police Agency, is said to have commented on
Kei Komuro after the report, clearly distancing himself from him.

Shortly after Kei's father's death, Kayo
moved in with a man other than Mr. X. Once a person becomes de facto married or
cohabits with a new partner, he or she loses eligibility to receive the
survivor's pension, and even if the cohabiting partner dies or the relationship
is terminated, the eligibility is not restored.
It is estimated that Kayo's illegal receipt
of the survivor's pension from the time she lived with this man amounted to
about 20 million yen.

With regard to the survivor's pension,
which should have been strictly administered, the fact that Kayo Komuro is
believed to have been illegally receiving the pension for many years has caused
a great deal of outrage among the Japanese people. Also, as a result of this,
Kei Komuro was attending a school with high tuition fees, and some consider Kei
to be jointly responsible for this.

issue, see this
