Kei Komuro's Mother Worked Under a False Name for a Long Period of Time While Receiving Sickness and Injury Benefits?
On the 26th, the marriage of Kei Komuro to
Mako, the eldest daughter of the Akishino family, was consummated, but Kei's
mother, Kayo, did not offer any comments.
As for Kayo, on the 6th of this month, a
freelance journalist filed a complaint with the Tokyo District Public
Prosecutor's Office regarding two "illegal payments" (which were
later returned and are now being prepared for resubmission).

One of the "fraudulent payments"
is a survivor's pension that Kayo received after her husband's death.

The other is the illegal receipt of
sickness and injury benefits. Injury and sickness allowance is a benefit that
you can receive from your health insurance association when you are unable to
work due to illness or injury. In the spring of 2018, Kayo took a leave of
absence from her full-time job at a long-established confectionery store due to
adjustment disorder, and received the sickness allowance for a year and a half,
which is the maximum period of payment.
However, it was reported that during this
period, she had been working in the hall and backyard of a coffee shop and
restaurant in Karuizawa, a famous summer resort run by an acquaintance. If she
is working at another workplace with almost the same duties as before her leave
of absence, it may be judged as fraudulent receipt of benefits.
According to a report in "News Post
Seven," Kayo came to Karuizawa in the summer of 2018 to help out during
the busy season at a coffee shop and restaurant run by an acquaintance. She
lived on the second floor of the restaurant and worked in the hall. Moreover,
according to the testimony of a regular customer of the restaurant, he was
using a false name. Still, Kayo, who was already a celebrity due to reports of
her debt problems, attracted the attention of customers, so the following year,
2019, she changed her job to working in the kitchen and other backyard areas,
perhaps to avoid public appearances.
The restaurant in Karuizawa, a summer
resort, often closes in winter, and Kayo apparently visited Karuizawa
intermittently from her home between June and October, the report said.
The freelance journalist who filed the
complaint against Kayo is said to be interviewing people around the restaurant
and collecting testimonies to determine when Kayo was working while receiving
sickness benefits, and is preparing to resubmit the complaint. While Kei Komuro
and his wife Mako gave few answers about the scandals at their press
conference, dismissing them as "misinformation" and
"slander," but the investigation into the allegations surrounding
Komuro and his mother is unlikely to end.
