Mako's Registration of Leaving the Imperial Family: IHA Chiefs Sign "Imperial Record”

On April 27, the Shoryo Department of the Imperial Household Agency registered the fact that Mako, 30, the eldest daughter of Prince and Princess Akishino, who married on April 26, had left the status of the Imperial Family in the Imperial Register.

Yasuhiko Nishimura, director-general of the Imperial Household Agency, and Yoshifumi Nomura, head of the Shoryo Department, signed the pages on which Mako's status was written as follows: "On February 26, she left the status of the Imperial Family" and "This is due to her marriage to Kei Komuro.”

The IF Record has two parts: the "Daito-fu" for the emperor and empress, and the "Kozoku-fu" for other members of the imperial family. Mako's matters are listed in the Kozoku-fu for the descendants of the emperor. The Shoryo Department keeps the official copy, and the Ministry of Justice has a duplicate copy.
